If you love fall weather and have kids, I'm sure that hitting up Kansas City pumpkin patches is on your list of things to do in September and October. I'm sharing with you some of my favorites I like to frequent with my own kids!
Without a doubt, autumn weather brings pumpkin spice and everything nice. The fall season typically kicks off by taking your kids to your local pumpkin patch to not only grab a pumpkin to carve in time for Halloween, but also to enjoy amazing hayrides, delicious pumpkin doughnuts, and sharing their first cup of fall hot cocoa.
As a mom of four and a born and raised native of Kansas City, I grew up near some AMAZING farms that transform into a wondrous land of fun during September and October. I absolutely LOVE going to Kansas City pumpkin patches because it gets me out of the door with my kids who feel like they've been cooped up. In addition, I absolutely LOVE supporting small businesses like local farmers.
My TOP Favorite Pumpkin Patches in Kansas City
I'm going to give you a short description for my favorite pumpkin patches at least within an hour from the Kansas City metropolitan area. If you scroll down, I provide photos in detail of each of the pumpkin patches with my kids! But for all you skimmers, here's my favorite ones in order:
- Faulkner's Pumpkin Patch (Raytown/Lee's Summit Area) - This is by far my favorite pumpkin patch because all the activities are fairly close together. If you have small kids like me, it's good to know they can't run very far and you won't be able to lose them! My favorite thing is their themed hayride - they have a hayride that has hay dressed up in Halloween costumes and animals like pigs and spiders. It's really adorable. There's also a pony ride that kids love as well.
- Carolyn's Pumpkin Patch (near Liberty) - This pumpkin patch is HUGE. When you go past the store area, you'll find that everything is sprawled out. They have an AMAZING bounce area for the kids (you don't have to wait in line) and an awesome tree house (where your kids could potentially get lost if you don't follow them). Their pumpkin doughnuts are DELICIOUS.
- Louisburg Cider Mill (near Baldwin) - While this is one of the furthest ones from the mentro, my kids absolutely LOVE going here. They have a 10 acre corn maze, wagon rides, farm animals, tire tower. I feel like this is a great place to bring both bigs and smalls!
- Johnson's Farm Pumpkin Patch (near Belton) - This is a favorite for school field trips! While they do not have "themed hayrides", their hayrides actually take you out to the pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkin. They also have a great place play structure that kids absolutely love. They've got a cute animal area where kids can watch farm animals.
- Fun Farm Pumpkin Patch (Kearney) - Super cute pumpkin patch that is less crowded than some of the oens above. They have a huge corn pit that the kids love!
- The Pumpkin Pad - There's a newer one in Lone Jack, Missouri that has a ton of activities for the kids as well as delicious food trucks.

Best Pumpkin Patch Features in Kansas City
If you are looking for something specific to do during pumpkin season, I'm going to share with you which of these places have the BEST features of each activity.
Best Corn Maze in Kansas City - Louisburg Cider Mill
They have a 10 acre GIANT corn maze that you can pretty much get lost in.
Best Hayride for Little Kids - Faulkner's Ranch
They have the cutest little ride that has a song and hay bales decorated for the season.
Best Inflatable Jumping Area - Fun Farm Pumpkin Patch
They typically have two inflatable areas set up without having kids have to wait in line. It's pretty much amazing.
Best Treehouse at a Pumpkin Patch - Carolyn's Pumpkin Patch
This thing is AMAZING. Be careful though, you could lose your kid!
Best Pumpkin Doughnuts -Fun Farm Pumpkin Patch
Their little red shack (if I remember correctly) serves them HOT and in little cute buckets!
Best Structured Play Area - Johnson's Pumpkin Patch and Fun Farm Pumpkin Patch
This is the cutest little play area that is COVERED and the kids can run through and play until their heart's content. Fun farm pumpkin patch is amazing and they love the tree house!
Best Corn Crib - Carolyn's Pumpkin Patch
This thing is GINORMOUS. Like HUGE. Your toddler might get lost in it.
Best Zipline - Faulkner's Ranch
This zipline is for kids big and small! My little girls went when they were three!
Best Night Time Pumpkin Patch - Deanna Rose Farm
Okay, it's not exactly a pumpkin patch. But they typically have the Night of the Living Farm where they have fun activities for kids to do. Note: It is REALLY BUSY.
Kansas City Pumpkin Patch Review (with my own Kids)
Faulkner's Pumpkin Ranch
Faulkner's is located between the border of Raytown and Lee's Summit. I love it, especially when I have multiple kids in tow and if I have little bitty kids. The reason is because everything is spaced out perfectly.
They typically have someone directing you when if you go on a weekend. When you get inside, you'll come to the store, like most of the pumpkin patches. You'll pay and immediately be taken into the animal petting area.
They'll have a ton of hand sanitizer near the exit of it.
There is also a pony ride right after the petting area and a bunch of different places for photo ops.
As you go further, they have a cute little caterpillar inflatable for the littles. Then you'll see a ton of bounce houses.
There's also a little stage where they sometimes hire a magician or comedian. Next, you'll see a corn crib in the back right.
Can you tell we've been a lot?
There's also a little zip line for the littles as well as a barrel ride and a small corn maze that's perfect for toddlers. They also have a mechanical bull, which typically has a ginormous line. My kids, who are fearless, have a blast on it.
Fun Farm Pumpkin Patch
This pumpkin patch is located in Kearney, Missouri!
I want to preface this by saying this place is HUGE. You can get lost in this place. Their donut shop is to the right, and they come in little plastic containers.
They have a ton of gorgeous mums and pumpkins, if you are on the lookout to decorate your front porch.
For the kids, they have pretty much everything.
Johnson's Farm Pumpkin Patch
I typically see a lot of our school's field trips going to Johnson's Farm. I've never been just with the family outside of the field trip. Their program is really cute. The kids get to sit and listen to a little story about the farm.
The hayride to get a pumpkin is pretty typical.
They've got an animal viewing area where the kids can see cows, pigs, donkeys, and ducks close up.
They also have a fun kids structure play area that is pretty large, but contained so that you don't lose your kid (I think I have some sort of complex wit this. I will note I've never lost a kid.)
Louisburg Pumpkin Patch
I haven't taken pictures yet, so stay tuned as I update this year after year!
Other Honorable Mentions for Pumpkin Patches in Kansas City
Deanna Rose Farm - Night of the Living Farm - I went to this one year, and the line was HUGE. If I had littles, I would not go. They had some cute little attractions like a scavenger hunt in the dark, but it's not something I would have waited 45 minutes in line for. At dusk, they have little mascots and princess areas for photo ops.
Worlds of Fun - Great Pumpkin Fest at World - They have extra attractions outside of their regular attractions during this time of year. This includes a maze, trick or treating, coloring, and a few smaller attractions. If your kids are under 14 years old, I would recommend booking it out of their by 4:30 because it gets "scary" during that time for Halloween Haunt. (While you are thinking of Worlds of Fun, add Worlds of Fun Winterfest of things to do when the weather turns cold in Kansas City.)
Schaakes Pumpkin Patch - This is in Lawrence, Kansas. They have free admission and hayrides!
Powell Pumpkin Patch - They do not accept credit cards.
Kerby Farm - They are in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Cash and check only.
Weston Barn Farm - Located in Weston, Missouri, they have a Barnyard, corn maze, tractor drawn hayride, and a cute country store!
Weston Apple Orchard and Vineyard - They have a small zip line, maze, corn pit, bounce pad, and more. Pretty cool there as well!
That's pretty much my list of the best Kansas City pumpkin patches. Our kids are pretty spoiled to have visited all of them (and eaten pumpkin doughnuts to their heart's content).
Do you have any to add to this list?
